Ugly Starfighter & Maybe Other Starships

Should We Do It!?
NO! ABSOLUTLY NOT ! ! !
Stick to what is already out there!
GO FURTHER ! ! ! < youtu.be/6yhm3wVgyYs?t=400 >

Aside from Obvious Models, I'd also like to see the ship-part hardpoints to conform to what they're obviously meant for, i.e. Koensayr engines (e.g. Y-Wing) are still Koensayr engines, even if they're on an X-Wing, A-Wing, B-Wing, TIEs, Naboo's N-1s, & more . . .

MOSTLY the ship parts that are already visible first. But in due time, Modify the Ship Chassis Building process to result in, at the very least, Classical Uglies . . .

I wouldn't mind *IF* they first took existing art assists from the movies/cartoons to incorporate into the imagining of modified ships.

Some of the components can be explained away as re-configured parts and thus don't really need new 3d modeling; however, I can understand the example argument with the Y-Wing engines being an exception.

I'd much rather prefer to see the inclusion of standard ships as they exist in the "star wars universe" cinematography/cartoon/artworks, at least a few more.

Should the R3 team ever get time to go down this road, so long as they don't destroy the star wars feeling and turn everyone into unique snowflakes, where a 'normal' ship becomes very abnormal to see, then that would be fine.

Did you follow the "GO FURTHER ! ! !" Link?

Yes sir.
time stamped to combining the chiss TIE looking ship's 'wings' with the hull of the other ship.

That one example might work with the similar design on the fuselage but several of the other examples earlier in the video are...no.

I'd like a voting option between "Go Further" and "stick to what is out there."
I feel like the 1st and second voting options are too similar.

'wing' changes and what not, if they're similar ships, makes sense to mount them. However, chassis and structural integrity are designed with certain things in mind.
You can't just take any airplane wing and stick it on any fuselage. They tried lots of crazy things like that in WWII with some minor success for concept proofing or in desperation but ultimately the aeroplanes required a redesign.
I know, apples and oranges and this is also high Fantasy Sci-Fi and all. But I feel like some similar thought applies.

I suppose what I'd like to avoid is looking at something and having to go "That's a Tie-X-Wing...WTF is that?"
It should still have a core resemblance of a ship, with believable modifications vs a total frankenstein monster of a welding job that falls apart after leaving the chop shop.

I am behind them adding more proper ships from the universe and more visible customizations, just don't stick X-wings on a TIE fuselage with one star-trek esque y-wing Nacelle sticking off its stern and we'll be okay.

I should Clarify the difference between the "Stick to what is already out there!" & "GO FURTHER ! ! !". The difference is that the former sticks to the Earlier examples, but the latter allows you to slap engines, weapons, & boosters (what can commonly be seen slapped on & the looted ones are of different manufacturers) where they're usually placed, EXCEPT, imagine the B-Wing with TIE engines because its a Sienar engine. What would the N-1's engines look like if it had Koensayr engines? What would Incom Boosters look like on a TIE? And more . . .

However, those are the two Easiest routes to take, for Design & Graphical Reasons. In due time, I don't mind the whole Shipwright profession is Tweaked so that more Elaborate Uglies are made, such as the Former C-Wing with Three to Four B-Wing bodies attached to One Corellian Cockpit . . .

Yes, but not to go Overboard. I would like to see variations on the ships. There are plenty of "Star Wars" mid sized ships in this genre. One ship I've thought about is the "Otana"; a YT-2000. Star Wars has plenty of ships; there are a number of fighters already but *So Far .. the mid sized seem a bit limited. Of-course right out of the gate, just starting its normal but there is a tremendous potential in this facet of a Star Wars game.

🤔 . . . IF we stuck to Star Wars lore, both Canon & Legends, I don't see a problem with the Shipwrights Profession being more Lego like in terms of Modular Components so that, as long as you have the Pieces, you could build Variants of the YT Series of Freighters & such . . .

But, based on what you've typed here, I'm taking it that you want to take this one step at a time?

Kinda, but maybe not in as strict a terms as it sounded. I would think "Bona Fide Star Wars" and Correct time period. Most everybody knows what is Star Wars and what would seem a bit Iffy in this franchise. Over the four plus decades there are so many ships that can be directly referenced to any of the movies, LFM games, Animated serials and Book serials Lucas approved of. The Mid Sized could serve as the general transport many would build their characters lives around. I'm sure the Dev's are quite busy already and I don't want to be anybody that never seems satisfied. 🙂 I hope this sounds more comprehensive and not like rambling.

Never read it as rambling, especially since this is about Uglies, not adding the YT-2000. IF you researched what Uglies are & the modularity of various Corellian Craft, then its possible to make a YT-2000, or even a YT-1300 with the cockpit on its Port side instead of its Starboard side (the Millennium Falcon has its cockpit on the implied side).

As stated earlier, if the latter is voted for, then ships, both existing & currently not, will be broken down by their hardpoints & attached accordingly. In due time, the cockpit from the YT series could be attached to four B-Wing fuselages, winglets included, and I'd have a pretty wicked Star Wars equivalent of a P-38 x2 or x4 (time two or times four).

Thus, all you need to do is basically use all parts that're used to make the YT-1300 & rearrange 'em into the YT-2000. Should mostly do the trick. However, if there are any specifics that'll make it different, make sure they're not any of the components that're usually found when managing your ships on those terminals & such . . .

🙂 That does sound good. I think now I have a better understanding of what you intended all along and that has been a part of the Star Wars story.
