Roadmap Update

These phases are in order of release, the planned features for the next couple of big content patches! 🎉 We’d like to apologize for the delay on getting this roadmap out to you, as everything had taken a backseat to fixing the chat server which 🤞 appears to be working and stable as of our fix deployed last night.

Being a small team, we don’t want to attach an ETA – as unforeseen bugs and personal schedules may cause delay… like they did with this roadmap. As always, they’ll release when they release!

We can say however that we’re quickly approaching a full development team and once everyone is comfortably set up will have the capacity to move much quicker on these deliverables. If you have prior SWG development experience and want to contribute, please message JarJar Binks#0775 on Discord.

= Phase 1 =

  • Progression Manager Implemented
    Framework for tracking server wide progressions to different heroic dungeons and Mustafar, complete with an in-game event board for players to check progress, and micro events that will automatically trigger.
  • Jedi
    Internal testing of Jedi abilities and commands completed, TEF and Bounty systems polished, and Jedi unlockable. 
  • Mustafar
    All instances and dungeons tested for group difficulty, and Mustafar ready to be unlocked by players.
  • Collections & Quests
    With every major patch, we will introduce new content for all players to explore. This could take the form as a collection, world boss, or simply a new farming location and you’ll have to find these in game once released to find out more!
  • Missing Components
    Missing weapon and armor enhancements added to the game.

= Phase 2 =

  • Galactic Civil War
    Base busting, crack down scans, and GCW releases.
  • Ranger
    Stealth and exploration class with unique abilities implemented.
  • Bombad Boxes
    Purchasable with in-game credits, these random boxes will give players a possibility to receive Veteran and TCG rewards.
  • Collections & Quests
    With every major patch, we will introduce new content for all players to explore. This could take the form as a collection, world boss, or simply a new farming location and you’ll have to find these in game once released to find out more!

Lastly, we will still be releasing quick fixes as we find and squash bugs, and in addition have ongoing planned content that could be released irrespective of these larger patches:

Welcome Home – Restoration 3 Takes Off

Tatooine, Mos Eisley – May 28, 2021 – At 6pm Central Time (CT) the Restoration team is ecstatic to announce that its permanent live server for Star Wars Galaxies will go online.

We proudly present to Star Wars fans new and old, a unique blend of content from every era of SWG; plus the reworking of key mechanics to address systemic problems that persisted in the live version of the game.

Players will receive a special founder’s gift for creating a character during the launch weekend: a custom R3 Golden Cybernetic plaque to decorate your house and commemorate the server’s launch, and an in-game shirt that will give your characters a small XP boost.

Star Wars Galaxies R3 Key Features:

  • A player driven economy – certain rewards and mechanics have been removed, worked into the crafting tree, or made cosmetic only – to ensure players are the driving force in the market.
  • Fight in space and on land – Jump to Lightspeed is fully implemented, and players can experience group squadron action in PvE or PvP combat.
  • Explore a sprawling sandbox world – From complete character skill customization, player cities, guilds, crafting empires, colour schemes, pets – make your character truly unique.
  • Exciting force system – With a custom Jedi unlock method designed to remain mysterious, our lightsaber friends are again wondrous, rare, and valuable. However the path to becoming a Jedi is dangerous, and death penalties are severe.
  • Community server-wide progression – Individual actions will add up, with players being able to open up different parts of the game by performing certain prerequisites, giving a group sense of purpose to end game content.
  • A dedicated development team – The Restoration 3 team listens to player feedback through the Senate system, and has exciting new content planned to keep every player busy for years to come.

About The Restoration 3 Team

The team is a  bunch of Star Wars fans who enjoyed Galaxies in it’s Combat Upgrade form, and have just enough knowledge and passion to present this project to the world. Building off it’s prior iterations in Restoration 1 & 2 – R3 is the culmination of past efforts and represents our vision of a fun and rewarding game.

As a small team however, Restoration 3 is not launching bug free. We will depend on our active and growing community to report issues, and provide balancing insight.

The work will continue, and in addition to future planned custom content and systems, we’re excited for what the future will bring with the next chapter of Star Wars Galaxies.

Restoration 3 Launches May 28, 2021

Tatooine, Mos Eisley – May 3, 2021 – After months of testing our open beta, the Restoration 3 team is ready to welcome you and all other fans back to once again experience the best Star Wars story ever told, yours.

On May 28, whether you plan on grouping up to take on the massive Krayt dragons of Tatooine, setting up a crafting empire on the rolling orange hills of Corellia, or plunging yourself deep into the Galactic Civil War – we are proud to present that Star Wars Galaxies is back, with all the greatest elements from each era of the game present and ready for you to explore.

A Unique Star Wars MMO Experience

Restoration 3 will provide players the ability to progress the server to additional content. Launching with Jump to Lightspeed and Kashyyk implemented, groups and guilds will work together to beat certain bosses and move server progression forward. Once this is done, other well known areas will become available one by one, such as Mustafar and Heroic instances like Hoth. 

R3 will also feature the addition of custom content and systems as time goes by. We endeavour to keep things fresh for players, so that their Star Wars home is one they can keep coming back to year after year.

Lastly the careful inclusion of Jedi as a difficult to unlock and mysterious class, credit sinks and systems designed to disincentivize AFK play, the removal of economy damaging systems like instant travel vehicles, and an initial cap of two character slots per player, means you and others will have to depend on each other to fulfill different roles within Star Wars Galaxies society as the game was first designed to do.

Server Events & Launch Weekend

To celebrate our open Beta’s close, we will have server events from the 24th to 27th. This will be an opportunity to meet friends, test out templates, and have some fun.

Our Discord will also feature the first Galactic Find A Friend System, this will be a great way for users to join chat rooms filtered by old Star Wars Galaxies servers in an attempt to reconnect with lost friends, and make new acquaintances.

Restoration III Server Launch Imminent

Naboo, Theed – April 16, 2021 – Fan favourite Star Wars Galaxies has been painstakingly remade on the base of the Combat Upgrade system initially released into the game by Sony Online Entertainment a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. The Restoration 3 team has taken the best of each iteration of SWG, maintaining the advances that new patches made to the game while keeping the freedom of an open, pre-NGE skill system intact.

With an exciting roadmap & custom content planned, the Restoration 3 team will be releasing the expansions Jump to Lightspeed and Kashyyk at launch, with Mustafar, and other Heroic instances added once secret server-side prerequisites are met by players.  This will allow adventurers to experience Star Wars Galaxies incrementally as first designed.

Trust no one with Restoration’s enhanced secret unlock Jedi system, adding once again a sense of wonder to unlocking this force sensitive class and keeping it rare, valuable, and unique. With great power comes great responsibility however, and Jedi must remain vigilant less they are brought down by player Bounty Hunters and made to surrender their lightsaber.

Stress Testers Needed April 17, 2021 – 1pm ET

With the launch of Restoration 3’s Star Wars Galaxies server imminent, stress testers are required to bash and break like a Bantha in a spice shop. We invite everyone to come online for a fun event, meet fellow players, battle NPCs, and throw as many actions down as possible.

Once this test has been completed, Restoration will reach out with additional information relating to our planned launch date. For now the exact date is a tease, but we can tell you that it’s imminent, and that any fan could take a guess at some upcoming force-sensitive dates and come up with a close answer..

Milestone Reached! Restoration III Beta Phase 2

Greetings SWG Community.

First I want to say thank you to all of our testers during both closed beta and open beta. The community has done an excellent job of finding and reporting issues.

While we have a handful of task at hand, I am satisfied with early game difficulty and progression. The combat upgrade was never tested from a blank slate like this, since the original release carried players pre cu characters over, it was interesting to watch and adjust the server according.

In its current state we need to increase tester activity, a large part of the community does not want to invest time in the beta because of the future wipe. While that’s understandable, in order to have the highest quality possible server release, we need more active players.

Enter phase 2, I have coined this name as the next step for the restoration 3 beta. During this phase testing focus will adjust to the end game content. Heroics, pvp and dungeons will be the primary focus of this phase. To encourage new people to join in, we are adding a Blue-Frog test terminal. The Frog will have skills, basic weapons and armor to outfit your player, as well as resources for crafting.

In addition, phase 2 will bring Jedi testing, there is no unlock for Jedi, we will give padawan trial eligibility per weekly events to players. Different aspects of the unlock will be added for our internal testing but mostly scrambled to keep the final Jedi unlock a mystery.
Finally, the heroics will start getting tuned and the mustafar dungeons scaled. All instances are intended to be done by a full group, with the influx of players who are able to bypass the grind time commitment, we hope each instance will be well polished.

The battle of Restuss phase 1 will enable with the patch, we will be doing a live event of the Restuss progression from phase 1 to 3, this is an exciting live event we are looking forward to having. The gcw bases will all be setup for pre nge gameplay, we intend to have events around testing these before the server goes live. Base busting is a personal favorite feature of mine and I want to ensure it’s quality for release. During this time we expect pvp to have some issues, however it’s critical we find and correct them before release. The /showPvPrating command returns adding the much needed classic feel to pvp.

Closing I want to thank everyone again for being a part of this community, we are excited for the release of Restoration 3 in the near future.


Wednesday Weekly Update 9/23/2020

This weeks highlighted feature is the tape system that was implemented this week. Below this update you will see the way that the CU tapes are now working. As with all crafting professions, you will want to be fully prepared to make top end tapes. To start, get out there and survey to get your cybernetic RE arm! For the big updates for the server this week please see below

-Take your fight to the beetle cave! Instance has been tuned to CU stats

-Crafters rejoice! Many schematics listed as NGE classes have been corrected. More to follow -It is now more socially acceptable to die as your local Doctor or Combat Medic can revive you.

-If you are however dying, speak to your local RE guy (or gal) to get you a full set of tapes. Tape and RE system has been implemented -There is a “warmly” increasing chance that weapons from ChuGonDar weapons have started to be converted to CU professions

-Many UI fixes have been implemented for your viewing pleasure -It is hunting season and with that, creatures now are behaving as normal creatures should. This is in preparation of the CH and BE implementations.

-Lastly, please save the galaxy its fate is in your hands. Fate of the Galaxy final boss has been tuned for CU combat

Stamina = Endurance Boost

Strength = Melee General

Precision = Ranged General

Agility = Defense General

Luck = Opportune Chance

Stats included in each are as follows

Toughness Boost = Health boost, Defense vs Dots

Endurance Boost = Action and Mind boost, Defense vs States

Melee General = Melee Speed, Melee Accuracy, Melee Defense, Defense vs States

Ranged General = Ranged Speed, Ranged Accuracy, Ranged Defense, Crit Chance

Defense General = General Speed, Melee Defense, Ranged Defense, Defense vs Posture

Change Opportune Chance = General Accuracy, Defense vs States, Defense vs Posture Change, Damage, Healing Efficiency

Restoration III and the future of the Restoration Project

As you may or may not have heard, Restoration Gaming has begun work on a new Combat Upgrade server based on the NGE source code called Restoration III.

This new server will allow us to better emulate the combat and balance of the Combat Upgrade than the current live server RestorationCU, as well as include some NGE features that we consider an upgrade over what the CU had, such as the NGE creature crafting system, the reverse engineering system, and the option of levelling through questing.

It will also include most NGE content, as well as some custom content. Kashyyyk, Mustafar, and Jump to Lightspeed will all be included at launch, as well as the Heroic Instances.

Jedi on Restoration III will retain many of the “hardcore” mechanics implemented on Restoration Classic and RestorationCU.

The current publicly accessable server is RestorationCU (Resto2), an open-source Combat Upgrade based server built on Core3 (the swgemu codebase). Feel free to play here for the time being, as we have no intention of wiping or shutting Resto2 down even after the new server launches.
