Lore / [Resto-Canon] #3 The Rise and Fall of General Vader
« on: December 15, 2016, 01:32:03 AM »

After the Battle of Naboo and the capture of Darth Maul, The Jedi Council was forced to accept that a war was coming. Because of that, they began focusing their training more and more on martial talents, rather than focusing on diplomacy as they had since the disappearance of the Sith.

Anakin Skywalker excelled at the Temple. His growing prowess at combat impressed all his teachers, and even the most conservative masters who were wary of the Order's new direction praised his skill. He was the poster-boy for the new breed of Jedi: Soldiers first, peace-keepers second.

Jedi Master Sifo-Dias, The Council-Member who was one of the loudest proponents of Jedi Militarization considered taking him on as a Padawan, before he was killed by his rival and then-fellow Jedi master Dooku.

Dooku had been one of the loudest detractors of militarization, and after his murder of a fellow Jedi master and subsequent dissapearance, any talk of returning the order to a peace-keeping organization fell on deaf ears.

(Dooku had also been in favor of the jedi distancing themselves from the republic, and relocating their temple off Coruscant. Many Jedi agreed with his distrust in the republic, a sentiment that would become more common once the Clone Wars began. I'll have many more details of the internal politics of the Jedi in a later write-up)

After Master Sifo-Dyas's death, Skywalker was taken as a Padawan Learner by the now-Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. Between missions, he also began taking private saber combat lessons from the Battlemaster of the Jedi Order: Mace Windu. Under Windu's tutalage, he mastered every saber form except for Vaapad, a style Windu insisted he wasn't ready for, and also trained in dual saber and double-bladed saber combat. Mace Windu intended for Skywalker to eventually succeed him as Battlemaster of the Order.

One year prior to the Battle of Geonosis, Anakin Skywalker passed the Trials and became the youngest Jedi to attain the rank of Knight in over a century. Many Jedi considered this a mistake, and believed him unworthy of the title.

(it should be noted that most events in Attack of the Clones play out differently. Shmi is still a slave, and is still alive. Anakin never went back to Tatooine to save her. Never went all Adam Lanza on those Tuskens, and doesn't lose his hand fighting Dooku)

A few months after the Battle of Geonosis, Anakin started feeling troubled by the fact that he had never kept his promise to his mother to return to Tatooine to free all the slaves. So he goes to the Council to beg them to allow him to go on a mission to Tatooine to do just that. They are unanimous in their refusal.

Moments after leaving the Council Chambers, Anakin is contacted by Chancellor Palpatine, who offers him Command of the 501st Legion of Clone Troopers to go to Tatooine to free the slaves and build a Republic-Controlled base. Anakin agrees.
The Jedi Council quickly realized that they were being spied on for the chancellor, and trust in the Republic hit an all-time-low.

Jedi began refusing to work with clone troopers, and began recruiting and training Militias loyal to the Jedi. Many of these soldiers were former Jedi Younglings who had failed to become Padawans and were working on Tanaab, Bandomeer, and other AgriCorps worlds.

The Council sent Kenobi to Tatooine to convince Anakin to return to the temple without completing his mission. Anakin attacks his former master in anger, convinced that he had betrayed him. Kenobi cuts off Anakin's right arm.

Anakin Skywalker is expelled from the Jedi Order.

Looking for an outlet for his rage at being betrayed by the man he saw as a father, He asked Chanceller Palpatine to instate him as a General in the Grand Army of the Republic. Palpatine agreed, and put him back in command of the 501st.

He began thinking of his time as a Jedi as comparable to when he was a slave. To him, the name "Anakin Skywalker" was the name of a slave and nothing more, so he disposed of it and took the name "Vader"

Over the years, many Jedi began to see that winning a war and following the Jedi code were mutually-exclusive, and followed General Vader's example. Nearly half of the Jedi order left the order to fight the separatists without having to answer to the Jedi Council.

The Jedi Order became more and more distrustful of the Republic, and began withdrawing from the war completely. This made the average citizen, along with most of the government resent the Jedi. It also meant that very few people questioned Order 66.

Not long after Order 66, Padme ran away and gave birth to Luke and Leia Skywalker on Tatooine. The Still-General Vader tracks her down and kills her, but not before Kenobi escapes with the twins.

Following misinformation spread by the Jedi, Vader goes to Mustafar believing that is where the Jedi are keeping his children. Instead it is a trap. Mace Windu is waiting for him, and after an extremely long duel, Windu is victorious. Vader is cut in half at the waist, and left to die by his former teacher. Palpatine arrives to save Vaders live.

Palpatine then takes Vader as his Sith apprentice, and General Vader becomes Darth Vader.

To Be Continued....

Lore / [Resto-Canon] #2 Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul
« on: November 05, 2016, 10:49:13 AM »

Qui-Gon Jinn:

Jinn went on a galactic walkabout after the battle of Naboo. He traveled to many lost Jedi worlds seeking answers. Eventually he found his way to Tython, a planet in the deep core that was the birthplace of both the Jedi and the Sith. He discovered there that the planet and it’s moons were so attuned to the force, that shifts both towards the light and dark sides of the force would cause chaotic storms, and earthquakes.

He then understood what the Jedi of millennia past had forgotten. That the force could never be in balance if force users only walked in light or in darkness. Every force user must walk that third path.

And so, The Order of the Third Path was founded there on Tython.

over the decades Qui-Gon trained many Third Path disciples, but in his old age he became more and more militant about his beliefs.

Eventually, he came to the decision that to preserve the safety of the galaxy, both the Jedi and the Sith must be destroyed. So him and his Third Path Zealots, came out of hiding and began their attacks….

After escaping from his former master, Maul went into hiding in the Unknown Regions to begin building his power base on Dromund Kaas, a ghost-planet, abandoned thousands of years earlier when the Sith Empire of that era fell.

It was there that he formed his own Sith cult, in the tradition of those who came before him.

Few of his Cultists were force sensitive. The ones who had the potential to become a threat were killed for “blasphemy”
Those who were not strong enough to ever surpass Maul in the force were given limited training in it.

Over the decades his cult became a powerful force, and Maul brought them out of hiding to take his vengeance upon both Jedi and Sith….

Lore / [Resto-Canon] #1 Timeline of Past Events
« on: November 05, 2016, 10:21:35 AM »
Star Wars: Restoration Timeline

Episode 1: The Phantom Menace
Events are Identical up until final duel with Maul.

Qui-Gon has a force vision that shows that Kenobi will become a sith if Qui-Gon takes Anakin as his padawan. he intentionally loses the fight, allowing maul to stab him, and then falls down the pit.

Maul is then bisected by obi-wan and falls just like the movie

Qui-Gon's body is never found. assumed he force-ghosted

Maul survives the fall and is taken prisoner by the jedi.

Episode 2: Attack of the Clones
Events are mostly identical to the movie, with the exception of Dooku claiming to Kenobi that Qui-Gon survived and is working for the separatists.

Dooku isn't truly Sidious's sith apprentice. Just a tool to bring about his plan (which included Maul's capture)

(Events relating to anakin skywalker are very different, and are elaborated in Lore Write-Up 3)
Clone Wars Era:
The war takes its toll on the Jedi Order. More and more knights and padawans begin falling to the dark side. Many who fell but remained loyal to the republic are expelled from the jedi order, but remain as Generals and Commanders in the Grand Army of the Republic. The mistrust between The Jedi and the Fallen Jedi cause many jedi to refuse working with Clone Troopers, Instead recruiting their own militias.

Others succumed fully to the dark side, and began killing jedi. They were tracked down and imprisoned in the same fortress that held maul. Maul began Teaching them the Sith code, and the ways of the Sith. Preparing them for the day when his master's plan would come to fruition.

Qui-Gonn returns from his self-imposed exile in the deep core. He tries to warn the Jedi that remaining a part of the war will cause their destruction. most in the order believe him to be a traitor. A few Jedi follow him, and The Order of the Third Path is founded on Tython, the ancient Jedi Homeworld. They aren't seen or heard from again.
Episode 3: Revenge of The Sith
EXECUTE ORDER 66! Anakin Skywalker, along with many of the fallen Jedi still loyal to the republic, storm the Jedi temple.

the Jedi who had chosen to continue fighting with clones were killed, and Many Fallen Jedi who were morally against the republic's new policy against the Jedi began fighting by the Jedi's side. Others went into hiding.

Sidious releases the Sith from their prison fortress. He tries to execute Maul to prevent him becoming a rival, but Maul escapes and goes into hiding. Most Sith join Palpatine's New Sith Brotherhood, those who refuse are killed.

Luke and Leia Skywalker are not split up, but are taken in by the Jedi order and trained.
The Jedi Crusades Era (Dark Times Era in Legends continuity)

The war rages on. The newly-formed Empire struggles to remain order under the brutal retribution of the Jedi order.

The Sith order, while a tool of the Empire, is publicly disavowed as Jedi extremists as part of a false flag operation to sway public opinion away from the Jedi.

The average citizen can't distinguish Jedi from Sith, to them they're just two equally-evil cults Jeopardizing the safety and security of everyone. Both become hated, and many citizens who may have feared and hated the empire before, turn to them for protection. Wealthy citizens begin placing bounties on Jedi and Sith alike as a public service.

Despite this, Rebel cells of Jedi sympathizers begin to pop up, and join with the Jedi militia to fight the empire and the Sith. The Rebel Alliance is formed.

Many battles are fought over the next few decades. the numbers of both Jedi and Sith dwindle as more and more die during battles and terrorist attacks.

By the time the Death Star's Construction is complete, there are less than 100 force-sensitives on either side of the conflict.

Qui-Gon Jinn and Maul's respective followings have grown large and powerful. in their exile. They both begin planning their return....
The Battle of Yavin:

on a mission to deliver the Death Star plans to the rebellion, former Senator Bail Organa is captured by the empire. He hides the plans in an old R2 unit, and sends them down to Tattoine to find his old friend Obi-Wan, who has left the rebellion to train the Skywalker twins away from the war.

Bail watches Aldaraan's destruction.

Emperor publicly announces that Aldaraan had been building the Death Star with the help of the Jedi, and that in a heroic operation by Imperial forces, this weapon was captured by the Empire and would now be used to maintain the peace. Few people doubt the official story that Aldaraan was destroyed by Jedi Terrorists during the battle to capture the super weapon.

events play out similarly to the movie up until escape from death star, but with Luke and Leia both leaving Tatooine with Obi-Wan to rescue Bail.

Death Star heads to Yavin to destroy the new Jedi temple and Rebel base.

Squadron of Jedi pilots lead by Luke Skywalker lead the strike against the death star.
Sith build an academy on Yavin both to fight the Jedi, and to make it even harder for the galactic population to tell the two groups apart.
Restoration: Chapter 1 Begins

OldForumsBackup / Community Update for the week of October 30th, 2016
« on: November 04, 2016, 01:49:49 AM »
Friends! Romans! Countrymen! Lend me your ears, I come to bring you my third community update!

Sorry for the long delay, I was kidnapped by pirates and they wouldn’t let me post updates. Damn pirates.

In these updates, I usually start with a large paragraph focusing on a single large, exciting feature being developed by Halo, but today I’m going to break from tradition and talk a little about my own little contribution to our server that I’ve been working on… and then get to the exciting features Halo’s been working on. Forgive my vanity.

So as most of you know, Restoration uses modified lore and fits into what was once referred to as “Infinities Continuity”
Basically alternate history.
Recently I’ve began writing up the full backstory for the Restoration Timeline, which splits off from the Canon Timeline during Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan’s Duel with Darth Maul.
Like in the Canon timeline, Maul survived being bisected, but unlike the Canon timeline, the jedi don’t assume that he died. Instead they mistakenly assume that Qui-Gon is dead, while Maul was found and imprisoned by the Jedi, an act that would forever change the galaxy’s destiny. The ripples from that one act set into motion a chain of events that prevented Order 66 from eliminating more than a third of the Jedi order, brought about the rise of the New Sith Brotherhood, and turned Jar-Jar Binks into a Purple Rodian bounty hunter.

Well, ok, I’m just kidding about the Jar-Jar thing.

once I have the backstory fleshed out, I’ll begin writing some short stories that take place both before the events of Restoration, and during. These stories will feature characters iconic to star wars, some invented for the stories, and others based on player characters from our own community (Characters with lore-friendly names only, so I’m sorry Bong Hole, JarJar, and TikTok, but your stories won’t find their way into Restoration Canon)
Once I’m ready to start writing those, I’ll open up a thread where people can post some information about any characters of theirs they’d like to be included.

hopefully all of this will not only help people see events in game in a new light, but also may draw RP communities to our server.
and on the development side of course, this will give a foundation that quests and events can built upon.

Other things being cooked up

The “New Player Experience” (NPE) is Halo’s answer to all the NGE and SWTOR vets who come to our server, get frustrated by lack of direction, and then ragequit. I’m not authorized to go into too many details until a later update, but I can tell you that it will be a custom-built optional themepark in Theed designed to get new players acquainted with Star Wars Galaxies, and this server in particular, get them familiar with the different classes, and help them grind up to the novice box of an elite profession. People Starting a new character now may have seen an incomplete fragment from the first quest already.

There’s also a lot of work being done revamping Naboo to go along with the NPE. New Naboo POI’s with loot designed to help new players, new caves, and other cool new things.

The new quest-based Jedi unlock is being written. I’ll fill you in with all the details on that once I’m allowed to

More NGE items being added in, including Jango Fett’s jetpack, which will be available in the Death Watch/Black Sun bunkers.

Additions to the death watch and black sun bunkers, including different quests, new items buyable with faction points, and some other fun surprises.

More quests.

More quests.

Instances like the IG-88, Star Destroyer, Akiva Min, and others.

Kashyyyk is still being worked on, as is Restuss.

Well that’s all for this week’s post. Like always, if you have any specific questions pertaining to the future of the server please feel free to send me a message on here, and I’ll try to get the answers to as many of them as possible for the next post.

Edit: Lore is now posted in Lore Subforum

OldForumsBackup / Community Update for the week of September 18th, 2016
« on: September 18, 2016, 09:49:51 PM »
Hello again Restorations! It’s Teal’c, your friendly neighborhood Community Representative.

In this week’s update I finally get to share some information on the Jedi Revamp that’s had me riding the hype train solo for the last week.
As some of the more astute lurkers here may have noticed (and of course all of you who follow along on Discord) there have been some new forum categories that tease at changes to the life restore system and unlock changes, among other things.

Of course, the old method of regaining lost lives is gone. No more farming for holocrons. Instead, Lives will be restored by mystery events, quests, or other secret ways that will regularly change. You’ll have to keep your eyes open if you want to survive.

There will also be a new system called “Force Disciplines” which will be tied into the new version of the FRS and the Knight trials. Halo will be posting a thread on that shortly, and I will edit in a link when that happens Thread is posted here. This system should be very exciting for Jedi who are starting to feel underpowered compared to their non-force sensitive opponents, as it will give them access to a choice of a number of new powers and abilities, including Force Cloak. Yep, that’s right, stealth is finally making its way to Restorations.

Other things being cooked up
Restuss is still being worked on, and will still be nearly a carbon copy of NGE Restuss. There are more details on older threads on this forum.

Kashyyyk is also being made a priority, and will be launched with the Jedi revamp. More details on Kashyyyk will be included in a later community update.

Food dispensers in player cities.

Cybernetics revamp.

The impending vengeance of our good friend Mort. LINK

A new event that will take place on Naboo.

This week’s most asked and answered question in Discord.

What does Saber intimidating Strike do?/Is saber intimidating strike just another intimidate ability?

I will quote Halo directly to answer this one:
“Saber Intimidating Strike was changed. It’s now a critical hit bonus roll.”
“15 seconds of critical strike bonus on the target. The amount is based on your skill mod”
(it should be noted that in the future it will be upped to 30 seconds)

Well that’s all for this week’s post. Like always, If you have any specific questions pertaining to the future of the server please feel free to send me a message on here, and I’ll try to get the answers to as many of them as possible for the next post.

OldForumsBackup / Community Update for the week of September 11th, 2016
« on: September 11, 2016, 09:41:16 PM »
Greetings Restorations! I’m Teal’c, your new Community Representative.

In this week’s update I’m going tell you about “Avenging Mort” a quest from Rage of the Wookies which will be making its way to our server in the very near future, as well as provide answers to some questions I’ve seen pop up on Discord lately.

Those of you who played post-cu are undoubtedly familiar with this quest and its reward. For those of you who abandoned the game before then, Avenging Mort was part of the “Clone Relics” questline, and had you helping a former clone trooper named Mort get revenge on his old commander who abandoned his squad to die on Kashyyyk. As a reward, Mort gives you his old clone armor (named Katarn Armor in-game) a hologram of a ship to decorate your house with, and 3,000 points to your GCW faction (or jabba if neutral).

Katarn armor was extremely popular with low to mid-level players because of its high stats and low requirements, and that it could also be worn by Wookies and Ithorians. Its biggest drawback was that Imperial players received armor with a Black/Light green color scheme that many considered ugly.

Fortunately, that’s where things differ on this server.
Instead of the color being determined by your faction, you will instead be able to change the color of your katarn armor the same way you can with Composite.

In addition, there are plans for a draft schematic version of the armor, so your friendly neighborhood armorsmith will be able to make stronger katarn armor, with lightsaber resist, so you can execute Order 66 in style, and without being decapitated as easily.

The Restuss update is about halfway complete, and I’ll be bringing you more details on that in a later Community update.

TCG items that aren’t on many other private servers are being ported over. (The TCG was a Trading Card Game within NGE that allowed players to get their hands on rare vehicles and houses such as jabba's sail barge house, the senate podium speeder, and countless others)

And much, much, more.

So as many of you know, at some point after the Jedi overhaul, all FRS ranks will be reset.
Many people have been asking if the Non-Jedi PVP ranks (Death Watch, Black Sun, Stormtrooper, Rebel SpecForce) will also be reset.
The answer is yes. All PVP rankings will eventually be reset and overhauled.

Well that’s all for this week’s post. If you have any specific questions pertaining to the future of the server please feel free to send me a message on here, and I’ll try to get the answers to as many of them as possible for the next post.
